University Grants Commission Job Circular 2023, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman realized the importance of quality higher education in building a knowledge based economy in Bangladesh. To this end, the Bangladesh University Grants Commission was established on 16 December 1972, which was later enacted in 1973 by Presidential Order No. 10 as the highest autonomous institution of higher education. At that time UGC’s activities were to determine the financial needs and demands of the then six universities. As the scope of higher education in Bangladesh has expanded over time, UGC’s current activities include: allocating necessary funds to public universities, assisting in the development of higher education system in Bangladesh to enhance the quality of higher education system, encouraging highly innovative research.
