Garments and Textile Job Circular 2022
The study was conducted under a project called Mapped in Bangladesh on readymade garments under BRAC University’s Center for Entrepreneurship Development. According to a recent study, the garment industry in Bangladesh, in which at one time the lion’s share of workers were women, is declining. According to the study, only 56 percent of those currently working in the garment industry are women. As a result, the new study suggests that the notion that 80 percent of workers in the sector are women is not true. The study was conducted by Afsana Chowdhury, Lead Operations Officer, Maped in Bangladesh Project.
Data collection for this study started from 2016. It collects data on a total of 3,500 factories that produce exportable goods. He said, “If the data of these 3500 factories is taken as the basis, it is seen that the rate of female workers is 56 percent and the rate of male workers is 42 percent.” The main objective of the study was to know the rate of male and female workers in the readymade garment sector. And so this issue has been given importance. But while analyzing the data, it was also reported that the issue of low rate of women workers has come to the fore.
