The National Economic Council reflects the long-term national policy goals of the Government of Bangladesh. It is an economic “mini-cabinet” consisting of the Chief Economic Ministers and their officials and is chaired by the Prime Minister. Ministers usually formulate their own plans and programs. The NEC meets when the Prime Minister is called and the meeting may include outside invitees at its discretion. All NEC proposals are then submitted to ECNEC for approval.
