In March 1971, more than a thousand Bangladeshi doctors living in Britain formed the Bangladesh Medical Association. Truly president was Dr. AH Sayedur Rahman and General Secretary Jafrullah Chowdhury. In early May 1971, the Bangladesh Medical Association and the United Kingdom jointly sent. In fact MA Mobin and Jafrullah Chowdhury to India to assist in the war of liberation. Then they set up a 460-bed Bangladesh Field Hospital at Melaghar in the Indian state of Tripura with the help of the Provisional Government of Bangladesh (Mujibnagar). Even the commanding officer of this hospital was Army Doctor Sitara Begum.

After independence, Bangladesh Field Hospital was re-established on Eskaton Road in Dhaka. Later, in April 1982, the hospital shifted to Savar with the slogan and purpose. Indeed of ‘Let’s go to the village’ to make the village a hub of development. Then it was named as Public Health Center.
