It may be mention that the Department of Information and Communication Technology of the Islamic University in Kushtia was open in 1996 as a pioneering department of that name in Bangladesh. Also, “ICE Innovation Lab”, the first Internet of Things (IoT) Lab in Bangladesh, was inaugurat on 21 September 2016 at the Department of Information and Communication Engineering (ICE), Islamic University (IU), Kushtia. Three former department students contributed to the collection of all Internet of Things (IoT) related equipment, including sensors, raspberry pie, Arduino, Shield, etc. for the Innovation Lab. . The ‘Bangabandhu Chair’ was establish at the IU under the Bangla Department on 20 July 2016 to conduct extensive research on the life, political activities and ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Former Director General of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan was appoint as ‘Bangabandhu Chair’ Professor at Kushtia Islamic University (IU) on 1 October 2018.
