Uttara Bank Limited celebrated the 50th anniversary of its banking services in 2015. This well-established and ancient bank has a rich history. It was start by some famous Bengali businessmen for the benefit of the underprivileged people of the then East Pakistan and on 26 January 1965 officially started banking activities with four branches called “Eastern Banking Corporation” which soon reached independence in the 70’s. During the non-cooperation movement of 1971, this bank operated the treasury of East Bengal.

The bank currently has 239 branches and all of them are cover by the online network. Also, its effective and diversified approach to reducing market opportunities continues as a continuous process of integrating new customers by increasing and expanding the opportunities of rural, SME financing and offshore banking.
