The university was establish in 1994 by Abul Maal Abdul International University Bangladesh, a joint venture of Abul Maal Abdul Computer University of the Philippines, with Anwarul Abedin as its local patron. Regular academic classes began in 1999. Each applicant has to pass a competitive admission test conducted by the university. The admission test is judge by the judges for the knowledge of mathematics and English language of the university. No IELTS score is acceptable without admission test, only TOEFL is acceptable. AIUB updated its grading system for the second time in February 2016. The new grading system will be applicable to students who have been admitted in the spring 2016-17 and beyond. The old grading system is still applicable to students who are enrolled in 2017-18 and earlier. Course grades indicate the completion of course work with their respective grade points. The minimum CGPA requirement for graduates in any undergraduate and graduate program at AIUB is 2.50.
The scholarship program at AIUB is open to both incoming and continuing students for at least one year. It covers full or partial tuition fee waiver. Incoming students pass the competitive examination as they have an average CGPA of 3.75 years last year and grade without any disciplined record. The number of prizes depends on the available slots. The AIUB authorities also provide financial assistance to deserving students. AIUB also provides 100% scholarships for the sons and daughters of freedom fighters (their CGPA should be maintained at 3.50) job paper bd.
