North South University (NSU), the first private university in Bangladesh, was establish in 1992 by the then Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Research (FPER), a charitable, non-profit, non-commercial and non-political organization. FPER was later the NSU Foundation and is now call the North-South Foundation for Education and Research. The Foundation group of prominent industrialists, eminent patrons of education, notable social workers, widely experience academics and senior civil servants of the country. In the early 1990’s, they dreamed of establishing a world-class university as a center of excellence for higher education in the private sector. He is responsible for managing the administrative and academic affairs of the University in accordance with the Private Universities Act (PUA 2010) and for implementing the policy guidelines laid down by the BOT. The Vice-Chancellor is assisted by a Pro-Vice-Chancellor and a Treasurer. All of them have been appointed by the Hon’ble Chancellor on the recommendation of BOT.
